Bravo TV’s Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger Stirs up Controversy Over Curly Hair

millionaire matchmaker patti stanger stirs up natural curly hair controversey. Now let me start by saying that I have watched Patti Stanger’s Millionaire Matchmaker since its debut in 2008. And it’s definitely a guilty pleasure to watch her criticize the prospective women interested in finding their very own millionaire to love. But season after season, I’ve watched her tear down my fellow curly girls with her nasty comments. Recently, NaturallyCurly.com took a stand against the millionaire matchmaker’s nasty rants by sending an AWESOME pro natural curly hair letter to her. You can read the letter here.

Now according to the millionaire matchmaker, her millionaires just don’t like curly hair and that’s why she is so critical of us curly girls. I call BS -especially when we all know that Patti does not have naturally straight hair. As a woman of Jewish decent, her ethnic background is not exactly known for bone straight hair. It’s bad enough she tears down women for having naturally curly hair but, what they wear, their weight and even their jobs! I think NaturallyCurly said it best in this paragraph of their letter:

“You [Patti Stanger] appear to be living in a time warp where only one standard of beauty exists: the Barbie Doll. In today’s multicultural world, women are celebrated for their own unique beauty—whether it be straight, wavy or super kinky. Just look at stars like Beyonce, Shakira and Annalynn McCord.”

They even created a Facebook Group to combat naturally curly hair naysayers.

Bravo NaturallyCurly.com! Below are a few nasty comments Patti has made about curly hair:

“scraggly, frizzy, bird’s nests.”

“She needs to straighten her hair, for one. She can’t get arrested with her rat’s nest.”

“Men want to run their fingers through a woman’s hair and don’t want to touch brillo.”

In response to NaturallyCurly.com’s letter Patti Stanger tweeted:

“Ok, naturally curly bunch. I like stylish curly/wavy hair, but my millionaire men don’t. So, go buy a flat iron.”

Sounds like Patti’s not taking NaturallyCurly.com very seriously… Where do you stand in this curly hair debate?
